ABOUT ME *
Welcome! I’m Adelita Orellana (She/They), and I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I identify as a 1st Gen Salvadoran / Guatemalan, queer, non-binary femme, survivor, and fellow griever.
My journey began in education, in both Early Childhood Care and Educational settings, specifically supporting neurodiverse students. I graduated with a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology, with a concentration in Community Mental Health, in 2022. I completed my post-grad hours in various community mental health settings serving the birth-to-five-year-old population, Queer and Gender Diverse youth and adult population, and under-resourced families and couples.
Working with young minds has taught me how deeply early attachment experiences and trauma can shape our adult relationships, coping patterns, emotional regulation, and sense of self-worth. Both in my personal therapy work and work within marginalized communities, I learned how deeply social issues impact individuals emotionally and relationally. These experiences shape how I hold people and their stories in therapy.
In my work, I integrate Psychodynamic principles to help you identify dynamics rooted in your experiences that are unconsciously guiding you. I also incorporate Relational, Person-Centered, Attachment-Based, Existential, Somatic, and Mindfulness principles to help you better understand yourself and build your own unique care practices.
I believe therapy can be a powerful tool that helps people understand themselves better, while also acknowledging that therapy is a Western healing practice and not one-size-fits-all. With this awareness, I strive to create healing spaces that are culturally humble, trauma-informed, collaborative, strength-based, and client-centered. Above all, my mission is to help clients feel safe, understood, and empowered to better understand themselves, build meaningful connections, and move toward healing in ways that honor their individuality.
Things that fill my cup include my two precious dogs that I love with all my heart, noticing the tiny details of plants and creatures, immersing myself in a film, keeping up with the cosmos & astrology, and creating, whether it be food, art, holistic concoctions, or a diy project; I love to create.
Currently, my practice leans toward supporting individuals seeking to go deep within themselves; people seeking support as they navigate family/relationship dynamics; and people navigating the pressures of systemic issues, family, and identity work. As a queer femme of color, I understand how challenging it can be to find a therapist, so if anything in my bio speaks to you or sparks your interest in therapy, feel free to reach out!
